Educating for Mission in the World of Work – Where Next?

In October we were excited to be involved in facilitating a fascinating consultation day on the future of Christian engagement in the world of work/workplaces, co-organised with Deacon Dr David Clark of the Kingdom@Work project.

Over a dozen of the UK’s faith and work organisations were represented – one participant said that in twenty-five years of work in this area they had never participated in a gathering with such wide representation!  Discussion was passionate and wide-ranging, exploring the nature of Christian calling in work, how we might equip people for this calling, and what currently does/not work in different contexts.  You can find a short, accessible write-up of the consultation in the Kingdom@Work bulletin no. 15 on our Faith and Work project page.

This will be the last Kingdom@Work bulletin in its current form, but the beginning of the next chapter of our commitment to equipping for Christian discipleship and mission in the world of work.  We are seeking to explore how the Kingdom@Work vision might be taken forward and we would love to hear your thoughts about what is needed now.  You can help by reading the bulletin and sending us your thoughts on the possible options outlined.  What bright ideas does it spark off for you?  Please send your replies by 15 February, to david[at]clark58.eclipse.co.uk
